The purpose of our organization is to provide artistic outlets and culinary education programs to address food security, promote confidence, health, wellness, and economic growth in Eagle County, Colorado, and surrounding areas.
-
We hope to create positive impacts through healthy prepared meals, experiences, programming and education, utilizing the kitchen the best way we know how.
-
Specifically, our goal is to enable The Good Food Fund Colorado and LBCC to broaden the reach of our accessible cooking classes, increase the volume of prepared meals donated to local food pantries, and enhance support for small culinary businesses through accessible kitchen time and incubator services.
Our Philosophy:
Interconnected Generosity
We believe in the superpower of interconnection! It's what fuels our creative vibes and problem-solving mojo. We're curious minds, soaking up learnings from every nook and cranny of our community! Each one of us has unique talents, and by sharing them, we connect, serve, and lift each other up.
Picture this: a world where generosity isn't just abundant; it's like a cosmic generator, creating ripples of goodness for all! Every generous act sets off a chain reaction, making the world a better place.

Our Story

Anne and Scott were both living the corporate life, living in Gypsum but commuting to Vail for work. Anne was a hotel concierge for many years, while Scott has been a chef, working high end dining for decades. They had been driving past a certain building on their commute, imagining what it would be like to run a coffee shop and café in that space. After some health concerns came up, they decided it was time to follow their dreams and open that café in that very building.
And so, DJs and Dahlias was born in 2018. For many years it was a popular place to be for food, drinks, and events. However, the pandemic complicated the food industry as we know it, and after some deep thought, Anne and Scott decided to shut down the café and instead follow a new dream: building a commissary kitchen for up-and-coming small businesses. While the kitchen was getting up and running, they also learned a lot about the needs of the local community, and how prominent food insecurity is in Eagle County. Providing healthy grab-and-go meals to the Community Market seemed like a worthwhile endeavor, and is much needed with the population under the poverty line being 7.2%.
And so, with that decision made, the Little Bird Creative non-profit was also developed in 2023.

Today, we strive to provide weekly grab-and-go meals to the Community Market, but we also have added other initiatives to our non-profit services, such as Food Education, and a Community Garden. You can find out more about those here. Our for-profit services include the Commissary Kitchen and the Colorado Mountain College – Edwards Little Bird Deli.
