Meals
Providing nutritious, prepared meals to the Community Market in Eagle County.
From September 2023 to May 2024, we proudly dropped off approximately 2000 pounds of food and prepared meals at our local food pantry, making a tangible impact on food insecurity in our area. We aim to dramatically increase that amount for this next 6 months!

Every Bite Has an Impact
Our goal is to provide 1000 nutritious meals to The Community Market consisting of protein, starch and veggies.
Working under Chef Scott Pasquale, we prepare nutritious meals in bulk on a weekly basis, which always consists of a protein, starch, and a veggie. We use fresh, frozen, and canned staple ingredients that are provided by the Food Bank of the Rockies or the Community Market.
Our Process
After preparing the food, we package it up in individual grab-and-go containers, which are then weighed. After labeling the containers with the ingredients, date, and weight, we bring the meals over the Community Market in Gypsum, only a few blocks from our kitchen.
The Community Market volunteers weigh the items again, then place the grab-and-go meals out for shoppers to take home.
Anyone can shop at the Community Market, and everything there is free. You can find fresh fruits and vegetables, raw meat, some packaged items or grab-and-go-meals, as well as dry goods such as rice, beans, flour, sugar. Learn more here.
Why We Do It
In Eagle County, just over 6% of the 55,240 residents face food insecurity, a challenge that goes beyond simply having enough to eat. (Source) Food insecurity often means a lack of access to nutritious, balanced meals, leading to health issues that can impact both children and adults.
While this number is lower than the state and national averages, local organizations like The Community Market are working tirelessly to close the gap. The Community Market, alongside other food assistance programs, provides fresh, nutritious food to those in need, ensuring that no one in our community has to choose between essentials like rent or healthy meals.
The Community Market has many ingredients for making a meal, but there are not always nutritious options for those who do not have access to a kitchen or have limited time to make a meal from scratch. For this reason, we at Little Bird want to provide those healthy grab-and-go choices to the Community Market.
